I love a good quote. I can’t remember them word for word to save my life though. My favorite quote is one that prolific author, Ray Bradbury shared. The real quote is “Living at risk is jumping off the cliff and building your wings on the way down.”
I’ve been known to misquote this as “bravery” or “courage is jumping off a cliff and building your wings on the way down. ”Part of the reason I change it up (by mistake, I promise) is that ‘living at risk’ sounds scary or unwise, but bravery and courage are words that make me feel uplifted. Connected to a community of people who are doing things they are a little bit scared of every day.
And isn’t the mental picture of building your wings and flying a beautiful one? I picture this often and I jump in to creative work.
If you are feeling scared to jump, you’re not alone! I’m there all the time, but I have this inner sense that those wings are ready to be built.
I hope you’re all well and engaging with your online community. I’m here to help you jump off that cliff if you need some wing-building advice!
